Touch-screens to guide wine buyer
A digital wine selector has been created to help consumers buy wine in supermarkets.
Retec Digital, which produces retail equipment such as Boots' Advantage Card touch-screen monitor and Sainsbury's DVD and music selector, has collaborated with Master of Wine Matthew Stubbs to create a touch-screen wine selecting unit.
The units are designed to help shoppers choose wine by colour, variety, price and style. Currently, Retec has no contracts with supermarkets for the product, but it's looking to expand on existing retailer contracts and plans to have units in supermarkets early next year.
Stubbs said: "The selector is a great idea to encourage experimentation for those buying wine in supermarkets. It will make life much easier for many who still view buying wine as a daunting and bewildering experience."
