3 types: Chateau Thomas founder Dr. Charles Thomas shows off Slender wines, debuting Saturday at Indy's Vintage Indiana Wine & Food Festival. |
Local physician Dr. Charles R. Thomas, who founded Chateau Thomas in 1984, said the wine, called Slender, is a standard alcohol wine that is sweetened with a naturally occurring sugar alcohol called erythritol; an earlier version was sweetened with Splenda.
Slender, which retails for $9.99, is available in red, white and blush varieties at the winery, 6291 Cambridge Way, Plainfield; at various retail locations; and at www.chateauthomas.com. Thomas said the winery will donate 50 cents to the American Diabetes Association for every case sold.
