China's imports of Bordeaux wines increased 21 times in 8 years
Everyday Bordeaux Wines was held in Shanghai on April 24. Report of CIVB showed that Bordeaux is focusing on China market and in past 8 years, Bordeaux wine exports to China increased 21 times.
In 2007, the total sales of Bordeaux wines in the world were 5,700,000 hectoliters in volume and 3.4 billion euros in value, up 1.3% and 4% compared to the corresponding period of 2006. After two years of slow growth, Bordeaux wine exports increased rapidly, its exports reached 1,940,000 hoctoliters in 2007, accounting for 33% of the total sales, up 7% compared to 2006. And its sales reached 13.9 billion euros, up 9% compared to 2006.
Bordeaux wine is keeping 2 digits increase in Asia. In 2007, its sales in China reached 43,000 hoctolitres in volume and 45,000,000 euros, up 82% and 158%. In 2007, Bordeaux's wine exports to China were 43,000 hoctolitres, compared with 2,000 hoctolitres in the year of 2000, which means, Bordeaux's wine exports to China increased 21 times in 8 years.
