The owners of Ferrari-Carano winery have purchased a small winery in Mendocino County’s Anderson Valley. |
The Philo winery makes about 3,000 cases of cool-climate pinot noir, chardonnay and gewurztraminer. Constructed in 1973, the winery sits on a 90-acre ranch planted with about 40 acres of organically farmed vineyards, Rhonda Carano said. It will continue to be run as a separate facility.
“We really want to honor the beautiful wines that have been crafted there,” she said.
Ferrari-Carano already makes a few wines from the Anderson Valley, off its Sky High Ranch vineyard. Those wines will continue to be been made at its Dry Creek Valley facility.
Lazy Creek owners Josh and Mary Beth Chandler purchased the winery in 1999 from Swiss native Hans Kobler.
