Imports of wines in Wenzhou increased prominently in first half of 2008
Wenzhou customs' statistics showed, in the first half of 2008, wine imports in Wenzhou amounts to 3.0161 million dollars by value and 881650 liters by volume, up 103.73% and 2.89% respectively over that of last year.
The imported wines were mainly from France, Italy, Spain and other countries, all managed by Wenzhou distributors. In addition, the prices of Wenzhou's imported wines also increased. The average price of imported wines in the first half of the year was 3.42USD/liter, up 97.69% over that of last year. In recent months, imported premium wines increased prominently, with over 3,000 liters of retail price more than 40 dollars/bottle. There are also lots of famous brands like Latour, Lafite, Mouton, margaux, etc, with price of more than 1000 USD.
Zhu haisheng, who has recently become China agent of Itailan wine brand Le Chiuse-Rosso Di Montalcino, said, “imported wine are more and more recognized by Wenzhou people and its market share is increasing rapidly. Its large potential attracts nany overseas Chinese join in the imported wine business.
