Wine goes well with storm in Naples
It was a scene that could happen only in Naples
Wine. Hurricane shutters. Laughing. More wine.
“My cup has a hole in it,” said Rosemary Langkawel, a Realtor at Engel & Volkers on Fifth Avenue in downtown Naples, laughing as she walked into her neighbor’s place, Avenue Wine Cafe.
The owner of the new wine shop, Colin Estrem, was happy to fill her cup.
Estrem, whose wine lounge opens next week, needed help putting up his aluminum shutters. Langkawel and her husband were happy to help.
“We’re a very tight group here,” Langkawel said. “We’re all family, we help each other out.”
A few other shops in downtown Naples have begun to put up shutters, including Starbucks. But for many shops, it's business as usual.
The rain is beginning to come down consistently and heavily.
