China become the largest market for Australian wine
According to the statistics from Australian Trade Commission (Austrade), the exports of Australian bottled wine to China exceeded 1 million cases for the first time during the 12 month before March 31. China has become the largest market for Aistralian wine in Asia.
According to report from Herald Sun, Australian wine posted a 700 million liters sharp drop during the past 12 months ending in July, down 13% from last year, equivalent to 1.6 billion euros loss of the market .
It is learnt that Australian wine exports drop in two main market, the United Kingdom and the United States, show a decline of 25% and 9% respectively. The rise of British wine taxes and Australian dollar appreciation are the main factors.
To remedy this situation, the Australian Government will make every effort to increase its wine consumption in emerging countries such as Denmark, the Netherlands, Singapore and China.
