Wine Tasting

Together with some friends I started a private wine tasting club in June 2000.  Members have come and gone, I am the only one who is left since 2000.  Since 2005 we are the same 7 people meeting four times a year for wine tasting and having a nice meal.

In June we went to Netherlands and had a very nice wine tasting evening in an old wine cellar in Delft.

In the end of November we are going to Riga for wine tasting, Christmas shopping and SPA.

We arrange blind tasting of wine, and only the host knows what type of wine is in the glasses.

Three different wines, only I know what wine it is.

Usually we taste three types of wine and the host can choose to serve red wine, white wine or champagne.

We never mix.

We arrange the wine tasting in our home and host of the arrangement this time are me.

I chose to serve red wine;

Neil Ellis -97               Stellenbosch, South Africa

Allesferloren -06         Swartland, South Africa

Brown Brother -03     Victoria, Australia

....register...

The wine is given points from 1 to 10.

  We judge the aroma, the bouquet, the colour, the taste and the balance.  It sounds as we are proofs, but we are just happy amateurs.

After the wine tasting we have dinner with starters, main dishes and dessert.  And the host always laid her/his best effort in making the evening as nice as possible.

The menu this evening;

Home made spring rolls                              Thailand

Strawberry champagne                               Sweden

French salad                                                Norway

Bread                                                           Denmark

Chilli con Carne                                          Mexico

Rosemount Estate -01                                 South Eastern Australia.

Chocolate cake with fromage and fruit.

Chocolate cake with fromage and fruit.     Norway and Asia

Coffee and avec.                                          France

And by the way for them of you who is interested:

Brown Brother    9       points

Neil Ellis              6,5    point    ( in Delft it got 8 points)

Allesferloren        5,5    points  (but last time we tasted it got 7 points)
