N.H. wine gets accolades from 'Time Magazine'
SOUTH HAMPTON – Jewell Towne Vineyards was recently mentioned in the Sept. 8 edition of Time Magazine.
In an article titled "50 States of wine," a wine was selected from each of the 50 states, tasted, and reviewed. Only 11 state's wines received the reviewer's highest rating, a score of excellent, including New Hampshire 's selection, Jewell Towne Vineyards 2007 Valvin Muscat.
According to the article's author, Joel Stein, Jewell Towne's Valvin Muscat is "sweet but balanced, with some nice mineral on the finish, like a good riesling. It's not a wine that's trying too hard or is too proud of itself. It just gets the job done right. This is one of the very few wines we drank the whole bottle of. Who knew New Hampshire was better at picking grapes than Democratic nominees?"
Though not the first time Jewell Towne has been recognized for its wines, including previous mentions in Yankee Magazine and the Boston Globe, the article serves a testament to the growing appreciation for cooler climate winemaking.
