Sharp Increase of Imported Wine Cause Big Pressure on Chinese Local Wine
Imported Wine causes bigger pressure on China local wine now. The increase of wine import volume at Guangdong Port has lasted for 7 successive years. Data from Guangdong Customs indicates that the import volume increased 10.9 times, from 1,165,000L to 13,920,000L, with an average growth rate 42.5% per year.
It was reported by Guangdong Customs on Aug 19, in the first 7 months, wine import volume increased 44.5% to 10,962,000L, import value increased 2 times to $73,659,000, average price increased 39.8% to $6.7/L.
Wines from America, Australia and France, accounted for 79.9% of import wine volume in general, French Wine 44.2%.
Although imported wine only took less than 10% of market shares, it causes bigger pressure on China domestic wine now. High quality and international influence are its advantages. Chinese customers are getting more familiar with foreign brands.
