Supermarket Wine Sales in Tennessee

Last legislative session, a bill stalled that would have allowed wine sales in supermarkets.
But a special study committee is set to gather in November to discuss the issue.
The state’s liquor wholesalers and retailers claim changing the law would encourage more underage drinking.
Supporters of the change point to 33 other states that allow wine to be sold in supermarkets.
Current Tennessee state law requires any alcoholic drinks stronger than beer to be sold in liquor stores.
