Rain Affecting This Years Grape Harvest...A Little.

At this time of year in the Niagara Region, it's all about the grapes! And of course without grapes, the wine festival couldn't take place!
Bill George, chair of the Grape Growers of Ontario, says it's been a bit of a rough ride for the fruits of the vine due to the wet summer. However, things are looking up, thanks to a recent spell of sunshine. George says when grapes get too much rain just before harvest, the berries can split and break down.
Compared to last year, this year certainly got more rain and that has affected the harvest somewhat, mainly for the French hybrids.
The Harvest is well underway at several Niagara vineyards.
