St. Louis Wine Festival is great place to kick back, sip and sample

Whether you're a true wine connoisseur or a novice, the Fourth Annual St. Louis Wine Festival is the place to be Saturday and Sunday.

The festival's goal is take the fear out of wine for the novice wine consumer and introduce new wine varieties to the experienced wine buyer.

The beautiful setting -- white tents around the Grand Basin at the foot of Art Hill in Forest Park -- is a grand place to kick back and sip, plus sample food from top restaurants, listen to music and watch cooking demonstration.

Here's all the information you need:

What: Fourth Annual St. Louis Wine Festival, with more than 150 Missouri, domestic and international wines from more than 20 wine exhibitors, along with local area restaurants presenting selections from their menus.

When: Noon to 7 p.m. Sept. 27; noon to 6 p.m. Sept. 28.

Where: Forest Park's Grand Basin at the foot of Art Hill.

Tickets: $25 at the door for adults ($20 in advance), $10 for non-drinking Designated Driver. Group ticket price of 15 people or more are $17.50 in advance. Patrons under 21 are free when accompanied by an adult.

Includes: Adult tickets include a souvenir wine glass, 10 tasting tickets (a booklet for 10 additional tickets is $5), wine taster's program guide and access to all demonstrations, seminars, musical entertainment and the opportunity purchase wine at discount.

Food: Can be purchased from Flemings Prime Steakhouse and Wine Bar, Lucas Park Grille and other St. Louis restaurants.

Seminar Stage: Restaurants will feature a full working kitchen for chef demonstrations. The stage will also host wine seminars, presented by local and international experts.

Purchasing wine: All of the wines featured at the festival will be available at a discount through the festival's retail partner, Randall's Wine and Spirits.
