Mondavi author to speak in Davis

Julia Flynn Silver, a journalist with the Wall Street Journal, will make an appearance in Sacramento on Thursday to promote the paperback edition of her 2007 best-selling book "In The House of Mondavi: The Rise and Fall of an American Wine Dynasty (Gotham, $15, 452 pages)."

Through hundreds of hours of interviews, Silver managed to get the inside story of the Mondavi wine-making family, the empire it built, the conflicts between family members, and the days before and after its sale last year. Much of the book's focus is on founder Robert Mondavi, who died in May at age 94.
