Cavalryman Supper Club Honored With Wine Spectator Award of Excellence

LARAMIE, WY -- (Marketwire) -- 10/17/08 -- The Cavalryman Supper Club(www.laramiesteakhouse.com), part of Blue Sky Restaurants group, announcedtoday that it has received the Wine Spectator 2008 Award of Excellence.The Cavalryman was recognized in the summer 2008 issue of Wine Spectatorfor its new 128-bottle wine list and is one of only two Wyoming restaurantsoutside of Jackson Hole to receive the award.

The Cavalryman Supper Club features an international wine list of CabernetSauvignon, Chardonnay and Zinfandel as well as Semillon, Veltliner,Gewürztraminer, and Viogner varietals priced from $18 to $295. WineSpectator Magazine rated the list as "Inexpensive," its highest-valuerating. Only 15% of wine lists recognized by Wine Spectator achieve thatdistinction.

"After a year of planning and research, we've developed a wine list thatincludes more than one hundred excellent-value bottles that pair well withour menu of traditional steaks and fresh seafood," said Joseph Heywood, theCavalryman Supper Club manager. Heywood likes to recommend selections fromthe 'Adventurous' sections of the list, which includes bottles ofuncommonly high value without regard to geographic region or varietal.Many of the Cavalryman's new bottles are not available anywhere else inWyoming.

Wine Spectator's Award of Excellence recognizes restaurant wine lists thatoffer a well-chosen selection of quality producers, along with a thematicmatch to the menu in both price and style. To qualify for an award, thewine list must present complete, accurate wine information, which mustinclude vintages and appellations for all selections. The overallpresentation and appearance of the list are also taken into consideration.

The Cavalryman Supper Club is located on the parade grounds of historicFort Sanders, established in July 1866. As part of its commitment topreserve and enhance its historic property, Cavalryman Supper Club willsoon build a wine cellar to preserve and showcase its new bottles.
