The Languedoc is France's wine lake, the source of vast amounts of wine so poor it goes begging for buyers and drains millions in subsidies from the French treasury. Vin de merde, it's been called (loosely, "crap wine"). Now, one company is facing up to the region's generally poor image by adopting the slur as a brand name.
