Bordeaux Wine Council Extends Deadline for Today's Bordeaux Submissions

NEW YORK, Oct 29, 2008 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- The Bordeaux Wine Council invites U.S. importers and distributors to submit Bordeaux wines priced $8 to $35 per bottle for the fourth annual list of Today's Bordeaux: One Hundred Classic, Contemporary, Affordable Wines. Today, the council announces that it has extended the deadline for wine submissions to Monday, November 17, 2008. ( www.bordeauxwinecouncil.org)
Importers and distributors may submit wines from any Bordeaux appellation priced between $8 to $35. There is no limit to the number of wines an importer may submit, and there is no entry fee. An independent jury of recognized experts will select the 100 best representative wines in a blind tasting this winter. These 100 standout Bordeaux wines will be announced through multiple channels including press releases and websites, and showcased at press and trade tastings in New York City, Boston, Miami, San Francisco and Seattle in March 2009.

The $8 to $35 price range represents approximately 80% of all Bordeaux and offers the quality and value that appeal to American consumers. However, the mystique and high prices of classed growths (only 5% of total production) has led to a perception that Bordeaux is expensive and difficult to appreciate. This program is designed to communicate that Bordeaux is affordable and appropriate for all occasions and budgets.
