Wine Festival Draws Crowds, Despite Rain
If wine and cheese are your thing, then there's an event at the lake with your name on it. The rain and mud by no means kept enthusiasts away at the Smith Mountain Lake Wine Festival.
The event is 20-years-old now and organizers say people come from around the country. Statistics show the Virginia wine industry is growing and producers say festivals like these are important for their craft.
Matt Clark, AmRhein Wine Cellars - "You have gotta get out there. You have got to get people to taste the wine. Everybody has a wine they love, and as long as you can get our wine into your mouth, then you, 'this is it, this is the one I like,' and then they buy our wine."
You can still head over there Sunday from eleven to five, rain or shine. This year's new location is at Lakewatch Plantation.
