Carneros Wine Alliance Moves to Downtown Napa Food & Wine Corridor

The Carneros Wine Alliance (CWA) has moved into new offices in the heart of the burgeoning wine and food corridor in Downtown Napa. Effective October 6, the Carneros Wine Alliance will be located at 1040 Main Street in the heart of Napa's Restaurant Row.

The new CWA office is bookended, among others, by Cole's Chop House, Ubuntu and Annalien on one side; a block away is The Bounty Hunter, Celadon, Angele and the new Riverwalk Development. Within a short, two block walk are the Oxbow Market and the new Westin Hotel.

Located in Napa's historic Exchange Building, the new office is situated directly across the first floor hallway from Congressman Mike Thompson. State Senator Patricia Wiggins and State Assembly Member Noreen Evans are located one floor above.

"Downtown Napa is emerging as one of Northern California's newest wine and food meccas," said Mark Pope, Founder and CEO, The Bounty Hunter. "More than a decade ago, we believed that Downtown Napa was the place to be. We are delighted that the Carneros Wine Alliance has elected to join us in this burgeoning wine-centric corridor."

The Carneros AVA (American Viticulture Appellation) straddles the southern crossroads of two major wine regions -- Napa and Sonoma Counties -- and is moments away from the organization's new office.

"In case you hadn't noticed, there is a shift in the culinary and vinous center of gravity underway in the Napa Valley, and it revolves about the dynamic changes taking place in the city center of Napa," added Peter Granoff, Owner/Partner, Ferry Plaza Wine Merchant SF, Oxbow Wine Merchant, Napa. "We are delighted to hear that the Carneros Wine Alliance has moved its operations to Downtown Napa!"

Over the past decade, the CWA has rotated its location between the Sonoma and Napa sides of the appellation, including offices on Sonoma's Eighth Street East, and at Domaine Carneros and The Carneros Inn.

"Our relocation offers an opportunity to bring Downtown Napa to our wineries on both the Sonoma and Napa sides of our appellation and in turn, bring visitors from our wineries to Downtown Napa. We are particularly delighted in being able to introduce our Sonoma-based members to the increasing number of food and wine businesses located in Napa," said Phyllis Gillis, Executive Director, Carneros Wine Alliance. "Many of these businesses have strong interest in working with all of our members across the Carneros appellation in mutually beneficial and expanded outreach initiatives."

Gillis noted that there are now 152 wineries with Carneros branded labels.

In recent years, the CWA has increased and expanded its public and trade initiatives such as the annual Carneros Heritage Fest and Lamb BBQ held the last weekend in May, and Cru Carneros, the harvest immersion initiative now entering its fifth year, for early stage wine and food professionals. Last month The Alliance received an award from Graphic Design USA for excellence in its new appellation brochure.

Long known for its commitment to education, training and the community, through the newly created Carneros Land Stewardship Foundation, the CWA plans to further focus its efforts on education, conservation, preservation and restoration of the land, wetlands, creekbeds and ecological habitat in the Carneros region of Northern California which borders one of the country's most critical coastal areas and marshlands.
