Shenzhen wine import value grew 1.3 times

According to customs statistics, Shenzhen imported 6,657,000 liters of wine by volume and 69,622,000 U.S. dollars by value in the first 3 quarters. Compared with the same period of last year, an increase of 60.6%and 1.3 times respectively.

The main characteristics are as follows:

●The main imports are from France and the United States.

In the first 3 quarters, Shenzhen wine imports from France 3,791,000 liters, an increase of 1%; imports from the United States 1,739,000 liters, an increase of 28.7%; The two countries together accounts for 82% of total imports.

●Rrivate enterprises imports occupied half of the sector , foreign-funded enterprises imports growed remarkablely.

In this period, Shenzhen private enterprises wine imports came to 3,451,000 liters, an increase of 43%, accounted for 51.8% of the total imports; foreign-invested enterprises imported 2,608,000 liters, an increase of 1.5 times.

●Import wine prices rise sharply.

In the first 3 quarter, the average price of Shenzhen wine imports is 10.5 U.S. dollars / liter, up 45.6 %.

At present, China's wine industry is still in its cultivation period. With the improvement of living standards, the consumption structure has been upgraded, which provide the demand for imported wines. At present, China's per capita wine consumption is merely 0.38 liters, urban per capita wine consumption is 0.7 liters, far lagging behind the world’s more than 6 liters per capita.

Overviewing the domestic alcoholic drinks consumption structure, the wine accounts for only 1.5% of the total annual consumption. China's wine consumption is expected to grow by 65.2%, 6.5 times faster than the global growth rate in the future 10 years between 2001-2010. At the same time, with the appreciation of RMB and import tax rates drop, large foreign enterprises will enter China's wine market aggressively, thus lead to the rapid growth of imported wine.
