Winery offers donations in return for harvest help

When Massbach Ridge Winery in Elizabeth extended the invitation, organizations were quick to respond.

The Stockton Music Boosters, the West Carroll FFA, the Carroll County Long Spurs Shooting Team, the Newell Rubbermaid Relay for Life Team, the Stockton Cross Country Team and the Christ Lutheran Church Youth Group helped with the winery's grape harvest in exchange for a donation determined by the number of buckets each group picked.

The Stockton Music Boosters alone picked nearly 12 tons of grapes.

"That's hard to comprehend, but it comes out to over 1,200 buckets of grapes," said Massbach winemaker Peggy Harmston.
