Sacramento, California, November 20, 2008 -- The California Wine Grape Growers Foundation is holding a raffle to raise funds for its scholarship program. This year the Foundation is offering two chances to win a New Holland commercial mower, with features that include a 21-horsepower, dual hydrostatic drive system with a 50" mower deck.

"We are inviting the winegrape industry to leave a legacy in California's vineyard communities by supporting this raffle and the CWGGF scholarship fund that makes educational goals for the California's vineyard employees children a reality," said CWGGF Chairman Ben Drake.

This is the second year that the Foundation has teamed up with Garton Tractor, Inc. and New Holland, whose generous donation has made this raffle possible. Garton Tractor, Inc. has been serving growers in the California heartland for over 50 years and can be visited online at www.garton-tractor.com. New Holland is a world leader in agricultural, utility and construction equipment and can be visited online at www.newholland.com.

Tickets are $20 each or six for $100 and can be purchased by phone at (800) 241-1800 or online at www.cawg.org/cwggf. Two random winners will be selected at the CWGGF Annual Wine Dinner on March 3, 2009. Winners need not be present to win.

The California Association of Winegrape Growers (CAWG) initiated the scholarship program in 1998 as an expression of gratitude to vineyard employees and their families. The CWGGF is a 501(c)3 non-profit charitable organization, created in 1999 to perpetuate the program. The CWGGF annually provides at least two $4,000 four-year scholarships and at least four $1,000 two-year scholarships for the children of vineyard employees. The scholarships are largely supported by donations.
