OPORTO, Portugal--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Cork Supply has joined with other concerned companies to form the WWF Global Forest & Trade Network-Iberia (GFTN-Iberia), an alliance of 20 Portuguese and Spanish companies aiming to halt illegal logging practices, promote FSC (Forest Stewardship Council) certification to aid forest conservation efforts and provide sustainable natural cork products from responsibly managed forests.

“This is an important move to help stop illegal and other unsustainable practices that threaten the loss and degradation of our forests,” said Isabel Allegro, General Manager of Cork Supply cork production headquarters in Portugal. “By forming this alliance and endorsing FSC certification, Cork Supply is taking proactive steps to ensure our forests are managed responsibly and that the forest products our customers receive from us are ecologically, economically and socially sustainable.”

The WWF GFTN-Iberia is a representative group of the WWF Global Forest & Trade Network (GFTN).
