Trinity Oaks winery greens up developing countries
Now we have another excuse to pour a glass of wine.
Trinity Oaks is an under-$10, overachieving brand created by the Trinchero family of Napa Valley, which partnered with the nonprofit Trees for the Future to plant a tree in an underdeveloped part of the world for every bottle sold.
The Trincheros, who own a host of famous brands in California and whose original fame stems from producing the first White Zinfandel at Sutter Home, are known as one of the most charity-minded families in Napa Valley. And they give graciously and usually anonymously.
Tim Peters, Trinchero marketing manager, says this latest way of gifting the planet results from a decision to stop inventing store promotions that waste paper on case cards and bottleneck tags and "refunnel that money for something good."
Each bottle now simply has a sticker that says "one bottle one tree."
