Iowa's largest Winery shares recipe in new Iowa cookbook
Summerset Winery is the largest producing winery in the state and they often share food recipes pared with specific wines they produce. A new Iowa cookbook features one of these recipes.
(EMAILWIRE.COM, December 08, 2008 ) Indianola, Iowa -- Summerset Winery sits on a hilltop overlooking a river valley seven miles south of Des Moines in the community of Indianola, Iowa. This popular winery is featuring their "Summerset Seyval Blanc Wine and Cheese Omelet" recipe in the new cookbook "Discover Iowa: Cooking with Iowa Wines, Meats and Other Iowa Products" by Amelia Painter.
The Summerset Winery (summersetwine.com) offers not only great wines but a fabulous tasting room and banquet rooms for the public. They are well-known for their week-end concerts and themed parties, so serving the public and answering questions about cooking with their wines is second nature to the winery staff.
Innkeeper Esther Kauffeld-Hoffa, owner of the Garden & Galley B&B in Indianola, says "I often pair local wines with my favorite recipes, it is enjoyable for my guests and lots of fun for me." Since the Garden & Galley is located within a short distance from three wineries, once of which is Summerset Winery, Hoffa is very familiar with all their wines. She is also a believer in the saying "if you don't like the taste of a wine, don't use it in your cooking." Hoffa shares her "White Wine Scrambled Eggs" recipe in the new cookbook.
