The Wine For Every Season
For many people, the enjoyment of wine is inhibited by rules, real or imagined, about the enjoyment of wine. Figuring out what one should drink with filet mignon, how to appear savvy when tasting a bottle, or which glass to use for pinot grigio makes people feel less than adventuresome, and even mildly oafish.
It’s no wonder people reach for the same bottles over and over. Tyler Colman, also known as Dr. Vino, suggests that you chuck out the rulebook and pair your pour with context. He advocates for fitting the wine together with the moment and the season, to "drink differently."
Tyler joined us in the summer to talk about the environmental and economic benefits of boxed wine. We’ve been awaiting his new book A Year of Wine: Perfect Pairings, Great Buys, and What to Sip for Each Season. It’s a month-by-month guide to selecting, tasting, and enjoying wine 365 days a year. Tyler Colman joins us on the line to explain why seasonality matters for wine.
