Holiday How-to: How to wrap a wine bottle in a napkin
How to wrap a wine bottle in a napkin
One of the biggest annoyances that a dinner host can experience is those little drops of red wine that appear on the carpet, tablecloth or even blouses or shirts.
The "wine swaddle” (or "Alabama booze basket” for those in the South) is a solution to those drips, and uses nothing more than a square linen napkin and a favorite bottle of wine.
Directions
→First, place the napkin in front of you, point down as a diamond. Fold the bottom point up about 60 percent of the way, falling short of folding the napkin completely in half and making a triangle.
→Next, roll the napkin tightly around the bottle and stand it up. Hold the napkin snugly in place around the bottle.
→While firmly grasping the napkin around the bottle, use your other hand to take hold of the uppermost point of the napkin and pull it down over itself and around the bottle. Tighten by cinching up the inner point of the napkin.
And there you have it! A nice, cozy little wine cover. It should prevent trickles from falling on the table or floor when pouring.
