Pablo García (Barcelona, 1971) is the new director of Alimentaria Lisboa, the International Food and Beverage Exhibition which Alimentaria Exhibitions will be organising at Feira Internacional de Lisboa, to be held 19-22 April 2009.

García holds a degree in economics from Universidad de Barcelona and has completed the Executive Programme at Nyenrode Business Universiteit in the Netherlands. He comes to Alimentaria from Caprabo-Eroski, where he held the position of manager of the own brand and internal purchasing departments. Prior to his appointment, he was the top manager for the Caprabo brand.

With more than 1,000 exhibitor companies and the participation of 38,000 visitors, Alimentaria Lisboa is the largest trade show held in Portugal and one of the most important in Europe for the food and beverage sector. The volume of business generated at the show is 175 million euros, and its impact on the country’s economy is valued at 15 million euros.

Almost 20 years ago, Alimentaria Lisboa marked the first international expansion of the Alimentaria show. In addition to Portugal, the trade fair model has been successfully established in Mexico and Argentina.

Like its parent trade fair in Barcelona, Alimentaria Lisboa divides the sector’s offerings into various shows by product family and type: Expobebidas, Intervin, Deliexpo, Multiproducto, Congexpo, Mundidoce, Intercarne and Tecnoalimentaria. There is also an extensive programme of activities associated with the exhibition.
Alimentaria Lisboa is the main trade show product of the Lisbon Division of Alimentaria Exhibitions, now managed by Pablo García. It will also be developing other headline trade fairs in Portugal, some of which will be aimed at the Portuguese consumer, one of the most active and innovative in the EU.
The appointment of Pablo García takes place a few months after strategic changes were made in the top management of Feira Internacional de Lisboa. The two companies – Alimentaria Exhibitions and FIL – will be at the head of the new strategic course to be charted by the exhibition.
