Renaissance Winery to launch two new varietals of red wines by January 2009
Renaissance Winery Pvt Ltd is in the process of releasing its first batch of Pinot Noir and Merlot red wine by January 2009. Presently, the group has produced about 5000 bottles of each brand and plans to double the production capacity by 2010. The winery is also in the process of launching its state-of-art restaurant cum wine lounge, which will serve international cuisine to complement the wines available.
Speaking to Hospitality Biz, Balakrishna K, Vice President, Renaissance Winery Pvt Ltd said, “Merlot red wine is a dry, medium bodied and velvety textured wine, while Pinot Noir is medium bodied wine with silky texture, moderate tannins and a hint of spice. As the production is limited, initially, it will be sold in Mumbai and Pune only. With the increase in production we will establish the product in the rest of the world. Both red wines will target the upper middle class segment of wine drinkers. Our priority will be the wine bar and institutional segment.”
Merlot red wine will be available at Rs 500 for 750 ml and Pinot Noir at Rs 290 for 375 ml.
