CALISTOGA, Calif. (KCBS) -- A Napa Valley winery is bubbling over with excitement after word that its sparkling wine could play a prominent role in the inaugural festivities next month.
For the Schramsberg Vineyard, it's nothing new to show up on the menu at the White House. President Hugh Davies said the Calistoga label made its world premier back in 1972, when then-President Richard Nixon chose the brand for a "Toast to Peace" with the Chinese Premier in Beijing.
Schramsberg wines have appeared at various political functions over the years, and Davies said he'd be thrilled for his product to have a place in the Obama administration. "Maybe these guys in Washington just have a better palate."
