Imported Wine’s Lion share in Zhongshan, Guangdong
Zhongshan wine market reported 3.5 billion Yuan total sales in wholesale and retail including 1.2 billion Yuan of local expenditure, the Zhongshan (Guangdong) Wine Trade Association said on its yearly meeting.
Zhongshan has a hotter wine market than other places in China, especially for the top brands. In recent years, with the development of Zhongshan’s economy, imported wine, liquor and red wine are playing a more and more important role in business activities. Well-heeled consuming groups come into existence. In Zhongshan, the wine market gives its major shares to imported wine (imported Brandy and Whiskey included), rice wine, beer and fruit wine. There are more than 2,000 wine trading companies in the city and more than 60 of them are wholesale dealers. Three wholesalers have the lion’s share; the annual sale of Pernod Ricard’s South China agent reaches 1 billion Yuan; the total annual sale of Shanghai Hennessy’s South China agents top 1 billion Yuan. So the total annual sale of three companies amounts to 2 billion Yuan and occupies 60% in Zhongshan’ wine market.
Founded on May, 2006 with 113 members, Zhongshan (Guangdong) Wine Trade Association actively involves in not only giving a boost to its members’ business but charitabe events.After the earthquake in Sichuan province, the Association donated 550,000 Yuan to the disaster-stricken area.
