By LAUREN CHAPIN  2008-12-4 18:34:00

The second JP Wine Bar has opened at One Nineteen, 4311 W. 119th St. (119th and Roe) in Leawood.

Like the original Crossroads location, this JP offers small plates, cheese flights and loads of wine flights. Hours are 3 p.m.-1:30 a.m. daily. 913-345-9444, www.jpwinebar.com.

•The Phoenix rises again. The Phoenix, 302 W. Eighth St., has reopened. The new owners have spiffed up the place a bit and reworked the menu. Among the new dishes: Black and Tan Onion Rings, Red Canyon Chili With Cheddar, Three Cheese Melt Sandwich and Chicken Salad Sliders. One thing has stayed the same: There will be live music Tuesday through Saturday.

Hours are 11 a.m.-1:30 a.m. Monday through Saturday. 816-221-JAZZ, www.phoenixjazzkc.com.

•Welcome to the neighborhood. Chase Wilcox and John Westerhaus have opened WestChase Grill, 11942 Roe Ave. in Overland Park, in the former 40 Sardines space. The pair gutted the inside and installed stone walls and acoustic tile ceilings to muffle dining room noise. They also repainted and installed new flooring, banquettes and a wine room.

Westerhaus, who moved here from Colorado, once operated five restaurants at a time in Beaver Creek and Vail. Wilcox moved here from San Jose, Calif. Both are trained chefs. Dinner menu items include Smoked Duck and Shitake Wontons, Blue Corn Crusted Pan-Fried Oysters, Apple Wood Smoked Prime Rib With Horseradish Mashed Potatoes and Pan-Seared Scallops With Truffled Risotto With Wild Mushrooms.

Hours are 5-10 p.m. daily. According to Westerhaus, lunch will be served from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday through Friday. 913-663-5400.

•Double the burger fun. Ernesto Peralta, Jennifer Price and Josh Eans are opening a second Blanc Burgers + Bottles. The new one will be at 10583 Mission Road in Leawood, next door to Blue Koi. The menu will add two or three more burger variations than what’s available now at the midtown location.

And speaking of the original, the three are adding a couple of new burgers and running daily appetizer and burger specials.

And yes, they will have at least 100 beers at the new Blanc. And because they don’t have enough to do already, Blanc will do off-premise catering. Look for a mid-January opening. 816-931-6200, www.blancburgers.com.
