“A good reputation is the key to good wine sales. It has been proved by growing sales in Medoc.” said Philippe Dambrine, president of Medoc Wine Association, to the reporter from China Wine News.

According to Philippe Dambrine, Medoc wine’ sales keep growing in China. The sales in 2007, which occupy 54% of total sales in Bordeaux, are 124% higher than that in 2006 with 62% increase of sales amount. The numbers are accurate enough to show Medoc’ important position in Bordeaux. In recent years, China’s growing top-grade wine market provides Medoc’s wine a good opportunity.

Medoc is one of the five sub-production areas in Bordeaux. Its reputation is attributed to its major sales in the area. It has 8 DOC areas and 5 Chateaus, including Grand Cre Classic, Crus Bourgeoir, Chateau de Artiste, Cooperative Chateau and the other Chateau, which correspond to the families. The good reputation of these chateaus help Medoc increases its sales around the world. A variety of wine in Medoc produces opposite effects on its marketing. On one hand, it provides flexible marketing capability for customers’ different needs. On the other hand, it makes it difficult for the customers to make choices.

“Of course, Medoc wine’s reputation comes from its unique location, good sunshine and appropriate rainfall indispensible for superior wine. Located on 45 degree north latitude, Medoc is a good place for its harmonious natural surroundings and climate conditions. Besides, unique soil is also a contributing factor for Medoc wine.” said Philippe Dambrine. According to him, Medoc wine not only goes with local delicacies but with other ones in the world, such as Beijing Roast Duck. All the above elements make Medoc wine well-known around the world.
