Napa County town imposes strict water-use limits

ST. HELENA, Calif.—A Napa County town is imposing strict water-use limits on its residents as the region confronts sparse rainfall and forecasts promising little relief.
The St. Helena City Council voted last week to implement emergency restrictions that allow residents to water their lawns, gardens and vineyards only on specific days.

The rules allow residents with even-numbered addresses to water only on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays. Odd-numbered addresses can water on Wednesday, Friday and Sunday.

All watering and irrigation are prohibited on Mondays.

Last week the main reservoir for this wine country town of 6,000 was just over 40 percent full, a more than 20 percent drop from the same time last year.
