CARTHAGE — Voters in Bensalem Township on Tuesday narrowly approved off-premises beer and wine sales.
Malt beverage sales were approved 161 to 144, according to unofficial returns. Unfortified wine sales were approved 159 to 146.
The returns will be certified Tuesday when the county Board of Elections holds its canvass. The board meets at 11 a.m.
Tuesday’s results mean eligible businesses in the township will be able to apply for a license to sell beer and wine.
In September, voters in nearby Robbins approved wine sales there by two votes, 116 to 114. Beer sales and mixed-drink sales were defeated by Robbins voters.
