Nandi Valley Winery to invest Rs 10 cr in production expansion
Bangalore , Jan 8 Nandi Valley Winery, the Bangalore -based wine producer, today said that it would add almost 15 new variants to its flagship brand `Kinvah&apos, involving an investment of Rs five crore and would also agument its production capacity to 30 lakh litres by investing Rs 10 crore in the next two years.
Kinvah, currently available in three reds and two white variants, would be available in 20 variants by end of 2009, including sparkling wines and rose, Managing Director K N S Raju told media.
Nandi Valley Winery, a two-year-old firm, currently has vineyards and winery in Bijapur producing 10 lakh litres.
It plans to augment capacity by producing another 20 lakh litres taking the total production capacity to 30 lakh litres in the next three years, said Raju adding that the company would invest Rs 10 crore in the next two years to achieve it.
Kinvah, which was launched in October and available in five variants, has clocked sales of 1000 cases a month becoming the largest selling wine brand in the city for the month of December 2008, grossing a total of Rs 60 lakh.
Formally unveiling the brand Kinvah here today, Raju said the company also planned to set up a unit in the grape-rich Nasik areas. The firm was also contemplating tying up with a bottling unit in Maharashtra.
Currently, Kinvah is available in Bangalore , Mysore, Mangalore and other towns in Karnataka. In the next phase in 2009, the wine will be marketed in other Indian cities such as Delhi and Hyderabad and in Maharashtra and Goa.
The company would also widen its repertoire to include wines from Australia and Italy and was in negotiations in the UK to make available the wine in Indian restaurants, he said.
