All's fine for Queensland wine

Queensland's largest wine producing region say it's having a terrific season and is expecting a large increase in tonnages compared to last year.

Stanthorpe winemaker, Robert Channon, says growers in the region have begun to harvest white varieties of grapes like chardonnay and verdelho.

Mr Channon says they've had fortunate weather with good rain followed by a dry spell which has resulted in high quality grapes.

"Just wonderful conditions for us this year, we've had nice rain earlier in the year in the late winter and spring coming in through to Christmas and since then lovely dry weather, so it's almost a perfect recipe at the moment," he says.
