Tips for the home bartender: simple syrup

Every home bartender can use this simple ingredient to give a little lift to some of their home creations. It can be used to give any drink a little extra sweetener, without adding a flavor, like in grenadine or other syrups.
Making Simple Syrup is about as easy as the name indicates. All you have to do is mix one cup of sugar with one cup of water in a pan on the stove, and stir and simmer until the sugar is completely dissolved. When the syrup has cooled just a bit, pour it into a bottle with a cap, and you can store it for whenever you need it.
Try adding it to margaritas, to make them a little sweeter, and less biting with all the lime juice.
