Wine and dine your valentine

Procrastinators' alert: Valentine's Day will be here in less than 24 hours. If you haven't made your dinner plans, you're beyond behind.

Lucky for you, several local restaurants are planning special menus and events and still have space for you and your sweetheart.

Following is a list of some of the restaurants planning special Valentine's Day meals. Many of them are taking reservations, but you should call as soon as possible to secure a table.

• Black Angus Grille, 9100 Corporate Hills Drive (inside the Marriott), 316-651-0333. The hotel restaurant is offering a $45-a-person dinner on Saturday that includes a red rose. Call today for a reservation.

• Mediterranean Grill, 335 S. Armour, 316-651-5599. The restaurant is offering a dinner for two on Saturday that includes appetizer, salad, filet mignon, dessert and two glasses of wine ($44.95) or a bottle of wine ($49.95). The restaurant also will offer a few special entrees, and every couple gets a rose. Call for reservations.

• Genghis Grill, 111 S Rock Road, 316-682-2695. Diners on Saturday can choose between two bowls, a bottle of wine and a dessert for $39.99 or two bowls and two desserts for $24.99. No reservations.

• HomeTown Buffet, 6820 W. Central, 316-942-4334, is offering a breakfast and a free photo on Saturday to couples who have been married 50 years or more, between 8 and 11 a.m. Couples must bring a copy of their marriage certificate or dated newspaper announcement to qualify.

• Kwan Court, 1443 N. Rock Road, 316-634-1828. Offering a special buffet on Saturday that includes Chinese dishes, sushi, king crab legs, oysters on the half-shell, prime rib and more. Offered from 5 to 10 p.m.; $29.95 a person. Call today for reservations.

• Oeno Wine Bar, 330 N. Mead, 316-440-5000. The Old Town wine bar is offering a four-course, $50-a-person wine dinner on Saturday with live music. Seatings are at 6 and 8 p.m. Call today for reservations.

• Palomino Grill, in Terradyne Country Club (but open to the public) at 1400 Terradyne in Andover, 316-733-2582. The restaurant is offering several dinner specials tonight and Saturday that include entree of choice with wine pairings. Seatings begin at 6 p.m., and the evening includes live music. Call for reservations.

• Papa John's is selling heart-shaped pizzas through Sunday.

• Rowdy Beaver, 656 S. West St., 316-425-0365. The restaurant is offering a dinner for two on Saturday that costs $45.99 and includes prime rib or top sirloin, dessert and a bottle of house wine or champagne. Music from the Fly by Night band will be featured on the heated patio from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m.

• Ruben's Mexican Grill, 520 W. Douglas, 316-262-2412. Large combo fajita dinner for two, including beef, chicken and shrimp, is $16.99 on Saturday. Margaritas and beer are also on special.

• Sabor, 309 N. Mead, 316-201-4880, and 1720 N. Webb Road, 316-927-2267. The Latin grill will offer its regular menu plus special Valentine's Day package meals (ranging from $22 to $32) and live music at both locations on Saturday. Call today for reservations.

• Uptown Bistro, 301 N. Mead, 316-262-3232. The bistro will offer its regular menu plus special Valentine's Day package meals (ranging from $22 to $32) and live music on Saturday. Call today for reservations.

• Yia Yia's Eurobistro, 8115 E 21st St., 316-634-1000. The restaurant is serving its regular menu and also giving diners the option of a special four-course Valentine's Day dinner that's $79.95 a couple. The dinner is available tonight, Saturday and Sunday. Call today for reservations.
