Wineries hope to cash in on President's Day
YAKIMA VALLEY--Valentine's Day is behind us, but local wineries are excited for Monday's holiday.
Thanks to President's Day, this weekend's wine and chocolate events go an extra day, and wineries are hoping to cash in.
At Bonair Winery, sales are as good as in years past, even though the economy's struggling.
They expect President's Day will be better than the average Monday in February.
"It's huge, it it just increases [the number of people coming in]," Sales Manager Lynda Opiela said. "Things are slow this time in the winter and it's great to have people out there and we'll catch them on their way home."
Opiela said people traveling back to Seattle from the Tri-Cities and Walla Walla often stop in, helping Bonair's--and other wineries--sales.
