Haskell's buys Stillwater wine shop

Haskell’s Fine Wine and Spirits has acquired Sutler’s Wine and Spirits in Stillwater.

Terms of the deal, which closed Friday, were not disclosed.

The Stillwater store is Haskell’s 10th location in the Twin Cities. The company, which was founded 75 years ago, also has a store in Naples, Fla.

Family-owned Sutler’s has been in business for more than 30 years, but the time was right to sell, former owner Andy Kass said. “I have no family to take over. … So we had always planned to sell at some point.”

Like Minneapolis-based Haskell’s, Sutler’s always has focused on wine and wine education, making the deal a good fit, Kass said. “It made us feel good that someone like Haskell’s was interested in our business and wanted to not only take it over, but to continue and expand on what we’ve built here.”
