Winery entrepreneurs from across the state are in Benton Harbor today for a three-day conference. The conference features intensive workshops on how to establish a winery. The event is being held at Michigan State University's Jordan Tatter Conference Center in Benton Harbor and it's already sold out to 100 attendees. The conference will be led by the head of the Enology and Grape-Chemistry Group at Virginia Polytechnic Institute, Dr. Bruce Zoecklein. He says the emphasis of the conference will be on sound winery planning and efficient designs for the Great Lakes region. Michigan is known for its great wine as one of the top ten states for wine grape production. The booming industry adds $300 million to the state's economy each year.
