Wine and art lovers come together

CORNING, N.Y. -- From one gallery to another, people hopped in and out of the store fronts on Market Street on one mission.

"They're looking for an experience they haven't had before and everywhere they go they're going to see very different kinds of art,” said Ginnie Lupi, Southern Tier Arts Council Executive Director.

Besides beautiful art, there was good food and local wines making it a one of a kind experience.

"So we've got this terrific array of art and experience for people,” said Lupi.

At the Palace Theater, paintings that depict the Fingerlakes region were popular. As were timeless photos of Corning, Painted Post and Watkins Glen from a local artist at the Spotlight Gallery.

"I tend to look around. I actually walk around the Corning headquarters buildings, around town during my lunch hour just to see if I can see something different,” said artist Matthew Burroughs.

Wine and art lovers join together
If you're a wine and art lover, there's a good chance you checked out Palate this week. Hundreds of people have been heading over to Market Street to check out local artists and wine makers. Our Mariah Sparks joined the gallery hop Saturday to see what the experience is really like.

But these posters of President Obama from his 2008 campaign featured here at Exhibit A have really been the talk of the town.

"I think it’s an excellent exhibit because it has a life at different times. From when Obama was running and now that he's our President it has a new meaning,” said Jan Kather, Market Street Gallery hopper.

Ann Welles, the curator of Corning's new contemporary art gallery says she's gotten that response from the very beginning.

"I think its a direct reflection too of how people felt about the election. People were excited about Obama getting elected; they're excited to see this,” said Ann Welles, Exhibit A owner.

Mission accomplished for these local artists.
