Annual Wine Tasting offers first class food and drink for a good cause
It's the fundraiser that has provided the Boys and Girls Club of Laredo with about 2-million dollars in funding.
And this Saturday for the eleventh year in a row the Wine Tasting Gala will get underway.
Despite the dwindling economy, organizers still hope to raise 250-thousand dollars this year.
And as our Concetta Callahan reports this year's event will have all the taste and class you need to toast to Laredo’s future.
"Our organization relies on community and more than ever we're gonna need the community this year because of the rougher times."
And to get people to open their wallets and give big organizers are going all out this year.
"You can imagine the quality we're bringing to our little town of Laredo. Its just gonna be an incredible evening."
"Its a Brazilian these and the chefs are already in the kitchen preparing their traditional churascoa dishes."
"We will have a variety of meats going, fresh salads, we're doing traditional drinks including the capoeta and delicious desserts all with the Brazilian flavor."
And lets not forget they're going traditional Brazilian.
So the way some of the food is served may surprise some people.
"We will be having the whole pigs, I think that’s something we're looking forward to."
Along with the whole pig sittin' on the table, only the finest wines will be served.
"We have champagne and wines from South America that are Robert Parker 100 point wines which are incredible."
And what's a party without good music?
Caliente, Gloria Estefan’s band that performs at her club Bongos, will entertain people.
"I don’t know what we're gonna do…we're gonna have to kick people out of here it'll be so electric."
Last year the gala raised 236-thousand dollars.
Like we said earlier they hope to top that and raise 250-thousand dollars this Saturday for the boys and girls club.
