2005 Aveleda Charamba Douro Red Wine ($7)

The hook: For wine-inspired dancing

The details: Named for a traditional Portuguese folk dance, this is a blend of Tempranillo and Garnacha - known as Grenache elsewhere, including in the United States. The very aromatic nose of red plum, dried tart Montmorency cherry, spice, cedar shavings and toasted grain is beguiling. A somewhat more straightforward palate satisfies with tart red fruit, oak spice and just enough tannic grip on the long finish. It's a lighter-weight drink-me-now New World style that would be great with roast pork shoulder or birria de chivo, a.k.a goat tacos.
