A survey conducted by Guangdong Economic and Trade Commission on various wine shows that foreign wine can not absolutely guarantee quality and dignity. The qualification rate of foreign wine is very low with nearly 1/3 being unqualified. In light of the severe overall quality, experts suggest that it is better to buy foreign wine from the legal channel.
Major problem of the unqualified wine is due to the excessive content of preservative and sweetening agent, which does not comply with the food hygiene requirement in China. This is not the first time that foreign wine is tested unqualified.
In recent years, importation of foreign wine has experienced rapid growth. According to statistic, wine importation in Guangdong port was 1,165,000 liters in 2000 and reached 13,920,000 liters in 2007, registering 10.9 times of increase over 7 years and annual growth rate of 42.5%. In Shanghai, 25 billion liters of foreign wine was imported in 2008.
Also, price of wine is varified and foreign wine is no longer beyond reach.Bulk wine is packaged into bottled wine with a total cost of only 10 yuan.
Customers should be cautious in buying low-priced wine. Cost price of imported wine should be not less than 40-50yuan/bottle.In order to make profit, some illegal traders blend c color agent and flavoring agent to produce cheap fake wine.
With the sharp increase of wine output in Europe and Australia, supply is exceeding demand more and more. A large amount of original juice is exported to Asia, for example, to China. Some wine businessmen purchase the low-grade wine original juice and add excessive amount of preservative to inhibit oxidization during long-distance transportation. Therefore, it is better to buy foreign wine from regular channel and be cautious with low-priced wine.
