Chinese Wine Output totaled 698,300 tons in 2008

Statistic shows that Chinese wine output which was not influenced by global financial crisis in 2008 still maintained a rapid growth. Wine output in 2008 totaled 698,300 tons with a year-on-year increase of 23.80%. The annual growth speed of wine is faster than that of alcohol, beer and yellow by 15.80%, 5.50% and 10.90% respectively. Statistic from International Office of Vine and Wine (OIV) shows that global wine output in 2008 didn’t not exceed that in 2007, however, the global consumption in 2008 reached 200,000,000 liters, showing a favorable trend.

It is estimated that due to sharp increase of the wine consumption in such newly-emerging countries as China, India, Thailand, Russia and South Korea, annual global wine consumption will reach 24.35 billion liters
