Montezuma, NY -- Montezuma Winery at the north end of Cayuga Lake has received some accolades for a couple of its fruit wines.

Beverage Testing Institute gave 91 points -- an Exceptional rating -- to Montezuma's Cranberry Bog and 90 points -- Exceptional and a Best Buy -- to its Dragonfly, a black currant-apple wine.

Fruit wines (those made from fruits other than grapes) are becoming much more popular in the wine industry today. Montezuma is one of the largest makers of fruit wine in the state.

Montezuma also received 87 for its Semi-Sweet Traditional Honey Wine (mead) and 88 for its BEE Vodka made from honey at the Hidden Marsh Distillery. Check out the winery's Web site at this link.
