Regal Life Announces Grand Opening of Another AWA Wine Flagship Store in Zhuhai, a Major Tourist Destination in China
PHOENIX, AZ - Regal Life Concepts, Inc. is pleased to announce that Guangzhou AWA Wine Co. Ltd. ("AWA Wine"), a portfolio investment company of Regal Life, will soon celebrate the grand opening of another new flagship store, currently being interior renovated and located in Zhuhai's Huai Hai Zhong District ("Zhuhai District"), Guangdong, China.
Recently reported government statistics show that Zhuhai's GDP recorded 9 percent growth, hitting 99.2 billion yuan ($14.48 billion) in 2008. Total retail sales of social consumer goods rose by 19.3 percent to 35.97 billion yuan ($5.25 billion) and per capita disposable income of urban dwellers reached 20,949 yuan ($3,058) up 8.6 percent respectively.
Zhuhai District is located in the south of Guangdong Province on the west bank of Pearl River. With its scenic variations of landscaping, this garden-like seaside is a popular tourist town. Currently there are 40,000 people directly engaged in tourism in Zhuhai. The city boasts 42 travel agencies, 70 star-rated hotels, and 20 scenic destinations each visited by some 100,000 people annually. Zhuhai received 11,546,700 tourist visits, including 1,299,600 overseas tourists, and total revenues derived from tourism was RMB 9.127 billion, representing 22% of the city's GDP.
Due to its mass of green space, it was granted an "International Award for Best Practices on Improving the Living Environment" in 1999, by the United Nations Center for Human Settlement and was the sole winner of this award in China. It also won a series of titles like "State Garden Green City," "Top Tourist City of China," "State Environmental Protection Model City" and "State Hygienic City."
With sixteen AWA Flagship shops already in operation throughout China, AWA's experience in choosing the perfect locale for new store openings have proven vital to their growth and expansion of the AWA brand. "In Zhuhai, flowers are in bloom all year round and that is why it is the most romantic city in China. There is no better place to sit and enjoy a glass of wine. With its lush green backdrop and fragrant flowers flooding the air, who can ask for more," said Nie Weifeng, President and CEO of AWA Wine.
Eric Wildstein, CEO of Regal Life, said, "Travel services in Zhuhai yielded tourist revenue of 45.6 million Yuan ($6.66 million) during the recently completed Spring Festival holiday, an increase of 10.94 per cent over last year. The municipal Tourism Administration also announced that 799,500 visitors spent 417 million Yuan ($60.88 million) during the seven-day Spring Festival holiday, rises of 8.81 and 10.03 percent respectively from last year. So, having another flagship store located in this booming tourist destination will help AWA gain additional branding and market exposure."
The AWA Wine network now comprises of 17 corporate-owned and franchised locations throughout China that is servicing a strong and growing membership base of over 50,000. The newly established Regal Life-AWA wine joint venture will lead to the opening of additional corporate-owned AWA Wine locations in China and the development of an improved IT infrastructure to enhance backend administration, sales and logistics support. AWA anticipates that, with the proper funding, it will expand its network to 100 AWA Wine Club locations and 1 million active AWA Wine Club members by 2013.
China Wine Marketplace
According to a Feb 2, 2009 Financial Post article, British firm IWSR conducted a study which projected that Russia and China will account for 58% of the growth in wine consumption in 2009. With current annual China's consumption of wine at only about a half-liter per capita compared to the current world average of 3.5 liters per capita per year, there is huge potential market growth for the imported wine industry in China. Wine consumption in China has exhibited annual growth rates in excess of 8% over the past several years and is projected to exceed 1 billion bottles in 2011. Industry experts say China may become the World's eighth largest wine consumer by 2012.
