American to partner with fine wine expert

American Airlines Inc. has teamed up with winemaker and viticulturist Ken Chase, in what it says is part of a continuing effort to serve customers the finest wines available.

Chase will serve as Fort Worth-based American Airlines’ official wine consultant, selecting fine wines to pair with American’s meal offerings. Chase is well-studied in all aspects of wine-making and has expertise in fine wines from throughout Europe.

“With each wine, I seek to provide American Airlines customers with a sense of adventure by offering wine varieties with dynamic flavor profiles that complement the inflight menus,” Chase said.

To enhance the on-board wine-tasting experience, American plans to use larger wine glasses in the first class cabins on some flights, "allowing customers to more easily swirl the wine and enjoy its aromas," the airline said.
